Yoshikage Kira Bites the Dust Activated Again
The episode picks upwards from the cliffhanger of the previous episode, with Kira noting how he'south going to undo Bites the Dust, considering Hayato's seen through his trick i also many times, and letting him return again is going to exist dangerous. The thing is, Hayato gives the revelation that... he'south picked up the phone last episode for a specific reason -- to remind someone to non oversleep. And, of form, that person is Higashikata Josuke, who shows up simply in time to hear Kira monologue "I, Kira Yoshikage!" before Hayato.
Information technology's... information technology's definitely a bit of an ass-pull, but I honestly recall that it'southward done relatively well, with in that location being a noticeable cut when Hayato picks upwards the phone in the previous episode, too every bit him going "I'll protect my mother" every bit he picks upwards the telephone.
And every bit Josuke unleashes Crazy Diamond upon Kira, Kira ends upwardly being forced to retrieve Bites the Grit from Hayato to defend himself -- thereby undoing the "bodacious" decease of Rohan, which apparently will only have place if Bites the Dust is agile. Again, all of this is a fleck complex, and is going to sadly exist the start of a trend of villains with ultra-complex superpowers and multiple conditions... I retrieve Kira's Killer Queen/Bites the Dust is i that balances complexity and "residual", though.
Josuke and Kira then appoint in a pretty damn glorious Stand-off, and and then a Stand up fight, which is hands one of the best-animated fights in the serial. It'southward probably to the evidence's advantage that the past couple of episodes hasn't been also complex, mostly centering on Hayato and making usage of repeated visual assets. We become a pretty badass "dora" 1-liner from Josuke as he kicks Killer Queen in the face up... and fifty-fifty Okuyasu, afterward standing at that place like a fool for part of the fight, manages to apply The Hand to misdirect Kira's Killer Queen attacks. Only so Kira shows off another power -- obviously, he took Devious True cat from the bag and into Killer Queen (those abs are... manifestly just retractable) and is now able to weaponize Stray True cat's air bubbles and plough them into a ranged flop.
It's, again, somewhat out of nowhere, only information technology is kind of foreshadowed that Kira definitely kept Stray Cat around for something. And evidently that'south to put Stray Cat into Killer Queen's retractable abs and employ it equally a ranged attack to showtime his previous weaknesses -- Sheer Heart Attack's singlemindedness and Killer Queen's relatively short range.
Too, after that explosion that knocks Okuyasu out and turns him into a bloody mess, we get a cursory acknowledgement of the rest of the fighters -- Jotaro, Rohan and Koichi have met upwards, but are far enough from the Josuke/Kira fight to realize that it'south happening. It'southward a bit unfortunate as they'll miss out the rest of the fight, but since Jotaro and Koichi did fight Kira the commencement time around (and made a pretty damn good showing, too), leaving the final fight as a more often than not-Josuke affair is definitely a slap-up choice.
The combination of Kira and Stray Cat is pretty interesting -- Kira can selectively choose when he wants to detonate the bubble, then even Josuke's endeavor to 'repair' a wall with Crazy Diamond ends upward failing as the chimera but bloops through cracks before exploding in front of Josuke. Kira so plays some dangerous mind games, going into a "did I, or didn't I?" mentality with whether he's touched Okuyasu's body or not. Kira and so appeals to Josuke, noting that he can at least restore Okuyasu and save his friend, even at the cost of Josuke's ain life.
And then Hayato... Hayato jumps and touches Okuyasu, because... Killer Queen'south bombs tin be transferred that way? It's a fleck jarring, and I don't think that Hayato really had the time to learn how the first Killer Queen bombs piece of work (nor did I realize that the flop-country will exist transferred) but the bomb is transferred from Okuyasu to Hayato... who blows upwardly and immediately gets resurrected and restored by Crazy Diamond.
Josuke and Hayato then drag the unconscious Okuyasu away as Kira unleashes an invisible bubble and sort of hams it up, striking JoJo poses as he does a countdown. Meanwhile, Josuke is in full on denial at the possibility of Okuyasu dying. It's definitely a powerful scene every bit Josuke refuses to fifty-fifty admit the fact that Okuyasu'southward non moving at all, and because how utterly protective Josuke has been of his friends and how this is the final boxing of the Part, I definitely bought that Okuyasu has died at this point when I first read the manga -- and Josuke seems to imply such at the finish of the episode.
We go a badass bit of Josuke refusing to exit Okuyasu'southward side, and and so using his ain blood as a pocketknife to slice Kira's chimera autonomously... just for the two halves of the bubble to just proceed moving forward, because apparently Killer Queen's ability volition keep the bubble halves stable? Josuke so repairs the debris in his wounds, propelling him backwards every bit the debris is fixed onto the route, assuasive him and Hayato to escape while Kira sort of monologues.
Overall, it's definitely a "our hero is in danger!" segment of a final confrontation, and i that, while allowing both Josuke and Okuyasu some badass moments, does actually make information technology look like Kira's in command. Josuke'due south wounded and dragging effectually a perhaps-dead Okuyasu, the other heroes are distracted, and Kira's got a selection of powers ranging from Bites the Dust and the newfound combo with Stray Cat. There are definitely a couple of points in this fight that didn't get over well with me, though -- I tin can purchase that Bites the Dust is mostly unexplained and we're just discovering how it tin be activated and deactivated, as well as it existence mutually exclusive with Killer Queen. But the whole "bomb transferring" bit feels genuinely off, as is the ability to kep the air bubbling stable. Information technology does make for a pretty entertaining battle, and oh boy, the budget for that Stand fight is certainly glorious, merely at the aforementioned time I actually wished that Kira's abilities were kept or presented in a more than consequent manner.
